Circles, Circles and More Circles!

I must be in a circle kinda mood! I finally scrapped these photos of my friend's little guy last year on the day before his first birthday. He is soon to turn two now. I used BG Lime Rickey . What a fun vibrant line! I finally did multtiple machine sewed circles. I always liked the look but wondered if it would look too messy if I tried it, but I enjoyed the randomness of it.

I used Sketch #121 from Sketch Inspiration. It was a challenging sketch but I liked the originality of it.

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

One More LO of Little Thomas!

I was so happy to get to scrap this photo of Thomas. He is with his Granny (my mother). I can't believe how much he has changed in three months! I used some Little Shoe Box and October Afternoon.

I tried some doodling here but I'm not sure if I'm a fan. I guess it goes back to not being comfortable with randomness. I think it looks kinda messy but wonder if I would improve my doodling skills with practice. I do like the idea of framing the background paper.

I used Liz's latest sketch #61 at The Scrappiest.

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

The Color Room Challenge

Here's the third palette that The Color Room put up! Not only did it motivate me to scrap, but I suddenly had an urge to get my knitting out! Since I have become consumed with scrapping, I have been neglecting my other passions of knitting and reading. It's the scrapping addiction!! ;)

I love this palette because purple is my favourite colour. I was shocked to realize that I have very limited purple in my stash. I guess it is not a really versatile scrapping colour. I loved the vibrancy of these colours but it did pose a problem for finding an appropriate photo. So, I resorted to B&W. I have scrapped this photo of me in colour but was happy to scrap it again for a different album as I have so few photos of myself. I'm always the one behind the camera driving the family nuts as I snap pictures of them!! LOL I kept this LO somewhat clean with more "white space" than I usually do.

I used a great mix of papers here: BG "Sulrty", Scenic Route, MME, Sassafrass and a new company called "the girls' paperie". I picked up some amazing sheets last week. They are all pinks and very vintage. Totally yummy!! Once again it was great fun to explore the stash for "treasure" to embellish!!

I used Sketch # 183 from Pencil Lines. A simple linear sketch.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend! Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Week #11

I finally got one week of Project 365 done! Yay me!! ;) I was just about to start another week today but was ordered to leave my home by the realtors that seem to control my existence these days. :( It really has been a bad week with realtors. Tuesday's realtor showed up two and a half hours late and then never locked my house up after she left! Today's realtor came one hour early while I was in the shower!! The funny part was that I had the bathroom door opened so the bathroom wouldn't steam up for the showing. All of a sudden I hear voices, so I called out to ask who was there. She identifies herself and when I tell her she is early she says, "Do you want us to come back?" I wondered if she figured that I would say, "No, go ahead and show the house and when I'm finished showering, I'll just call out for you all to shut your eyes as I run naked to my bedroom." Really!!!! Anyway, they came back for a second visit (third visit actually if you count the shower episode) so then I had to leave the house again!! I am hoping that maybe there will be an offer but so far no word. I sooooo want this house to sell so I can go back to a normal life!! Okay, enough of my rant. Sorry about that blogging friends. I really want this to be a happy place to visit, but today's visit could have been quite the "showing"!! LOL

Back to the Project! Since my rule for this is to have "no things lumpy", I used up some of my BG June Bug transparencies. I never really know how to use this product. I ended up cutting out the colourful parts of the frame and using it more as a sticker.

This LO is based loosely on this sketch from Stuck? Sketches! Isn't that rooster the ugliest thing ever? A "decoration" at our local "Swiss Chalet" chicken restaurant.

This one is based loosely on this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.

I did head over to my LSS today while killing some time and ended up finding some amazing new papers. A few from October Afternoon, some Cosmo Cricket and even some Jillibean Soup!! I even lucked out and found some Pink Paislee chipboard letters at 50% off as well as some tags at half off. I love me a scrappy bargain!! :)

The Color Room has their third colour challenge up and it is very delicious!! I can't wait to give it a go! No wonder I am so behind on Project 365!!

Hope everyone is finding some time to create these days!! Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

My 15 Minutes of Fame

I can finally share that I was invited to be the April Guest Blogger at Paper Poppy Kit Company today! Very exciting in my scrappy world and I think I might be famous now! ;) It was really fun to share what I created with the April kit. Those kits are so much fun. I love waiting for the reveal and then seeing all the inspiration and then finally receiving it in the mail. That baggie of embellishments is like looking through Santa's stocking. Here are the five LO's that I created from the one kit!

PP April Challenge using the April 1st sketch from Stuck? Sketches!

PP April Sketch Challenge using Liz's awesome sketch!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #98, which is Aphra's sketch!

The Scrappiest Sketch #60

The Scrappiest Sketch #59

I have been starting to work on Project 365 as I am about 5 weeks behind. :( They are not the most fun LO's to put together but I really enjoy looking at them once they are done. I am feeling more motivated about the project now that the nicer weather is in and the photographs may be a little more interesting!

Hope that everyone has a great day and that it is warm spring weather wherever you are !!

Happy Scrapping!! Jen

Colour Me Happy!

.... happy that I found colour challenges, that is!!! I am loving playing along in The Color Room with their fun weekly colour challenges! They are so inspiring and it is really fun to go through the stash and coordinate goodies. Here is this weeks very masculine palette!

I wanted to use a B&W for this and the only photo that I had was this one of Thomas, Susan and Matt. I wondered if it was inappropriate for a baby LO and then decided to throw caution to the wind and step out of my box!! I have lots of brands here, Pink Paislee, BG Boxer, BG Granola, BG Nook and Pantry and even some Crate Paper! The Sassafrass letters were perfect for this. On a side note, I got this letter sheet for $0.20!! I think that they were in the wrong sale box and went in as a piece of paper. I even asked the girl if this was the right price and she said it was so who am I to argue. hee hee I picked up about four different colours of letters that day!

I used Jana's latest sketch from her sketch blog. I thought that the amount of layering would lend itself well to showcase the palette.

Here are some close ups.

Scrapping and Maids

Yesterday I had a chance to work on the new sketch that Trisha has up at Sketch Inspiration. I loved this linear sketch that allowed for lots of layering! It was great to finally scrap this photograph that I took last fall.

Scrapping photographs of nature can sometimes be challenging. It isn't like I ever look at the picture and can think of a line of paper to coordinate. It really forces me to go through the stash and search for treasure! This is something that I seem to be enjoying more these days. I thank the Paper Poppy Kit Company for this. It has opened the door to mixing up the lines a little!! :)

This LO has Scenic Route, Fancy Pants and yet some more of my Origins scraps!! Yay to using up some scraps!! Funny to think of yellow and green on a first snow LO, but I love how with the added white it represents the merging of the seasons. :)

Here's the sketch!

On the domestic front, I am blogging as my "maid" takes care of the floors!!! Let me introduce you to my new maid, "Roomba"!!

This little baby scurries around bumping from wall to wall to pick up every crumb and even goes under sofas!! When she is finished, she goes back to her station and turns herself off! She is my third maid. I had a Roomba years ago and it broke and then we exchanged it and it broke again. :( We finally just got our money back. We decided to give Roomba another shot with having to keep the house extra clean for potential showings. They have changed the look of the model so here's hoping that the third times a charm! :) One of Rob's work friends bought her first one when we did four years ago and hers is still going. We will see. :)

Hope everyone is having a great start to a new week. Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

This Laundry Fairy is Known to Give Hives

Have you ever had a visit from the "Laundry Fairy"? I used to get regular visits when Rob was on shift work. The night before starting his night shifts, he would stay up really late. He said that doing laundry helped motivate him to stay awake, as he would be up and down switching loads. I would go to bed with a filled laundry room and wake up to baskets filled with fluffed and folded laundry. Oh, happy days! :) Diane has moved back home temporarily and so now I am her Laundry Fairy. She comes home from work and is so glad that her Laundry Fairy has made a visit.

I took these photos of Diane's blouses drying in the spring breeze. I was feeling particularly Mumish that day and even brought them in for ironing at the perfect stage of dampness. These episodes of being a 50's housewife don't happen very often around here. ;) I love this peacefully domestic photo and couldn't wait to scrap it and journal about how great laundry smells when it is dried outside.

I do tend to sometimes rewrite history in my scrappy life. I guess I want to show the good side of life. You know, glass half full and all! Who wants to air their dirty laundry in public??? ;) But... here's the scoop. I washed those blouses in a really perfumey laundry soap that Diane was allergic to. She itched all day at work and came home with hives! Opps. I still think this photograph made for a better LO than a picture of Diane looking uncomfortable with red blotches on her neck!

I used the Dear Lizzy line from American Crafts. I just had to give this whimsical springtime line a go. I even added some doodling. This is something that I am not really comfortable with. I misted a bit on the bottom but it was only to cover up some brown ink smudges. (Urrggg!!) Not sure that this brown mist really supports the theme of "clean" but I'll call this an artistic liberty. ;) The artistic meaning is to look at the brown mist as dirt and then the bright shiny yellow letters sitting on top as a representation of clean! Wow, that was deep! LOL Yeah, I planned this from the beginning. Hee Hee

Here's the sketch. It is from Creative Scrappers.

Here are the close ups!

Hope everyone is having a happy and scrappy weekend! Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Is Spring Here?

I don't want to jinx it but I think that Spring has finally arrived in Alberta! Yay!! I was out scouting around the backyard this afternoon and actually found some evidence of budding. :)

Then, my sweetie came home and surprised me with this!

Now it feels like spring in my kitchen, too.

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Feeling Purple

Yes, I was feeling the purple when I created this LO using the new BG "Kioshi" line! Purple is my favourite colour and just makes me happy. This is me on my second birthday. I guess these chubby cheeks have been with me from the get go. ;) I really like the look of the B&W photo with these papers. Not a super versatile line but amazing, never the less. I can't believe that I did not use one button or brad!! Weird for me.

I used Sketch #119 from Sketch Inspiration. I added the large journaling card behind the circle to take away some of the circular element.

This little yellow die cut circle is from Jolees Boutique. They have finally come out with some less whimsical products.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday. I am off to clean my house......again. {sigh} I really need to stop whining about this and just embrace it. There is my goal for the day. ;) If I go really fast I can play with my Dear Lizzy papers. There's a motivator! :)

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)
